Sorry if this is my fault and I'm doing something stupid. I've just paid for the engine SDK and I've tried a few things.

Basically if
-I just download the LESDK2.28.exe and run that the sandbox works, but physics doesn't seem to want to run (I turn it on and nothing happens (using an oildrum like I could with the demo)).

-I tried going with an old install (LESDK2.12.exe) and then updating to the 2.28 but then the sandbox didn't actually open straight off the get go (insti-crash - it got to loading shaders from the archive apparently (from the log)).

When you install the SDK are you meant to actually run an install (like an old version) or just run the LESDK2.28.exe and not have registries so on? Sorry if that's a noobish question:S

I realize buying the new update might fix these issues but that's not really the point. Anyway any help appreciated :)

Cheers!

Saw another post that mentions the mass of the barrel is not set to 1 but mine seems to be (in the ini file right?)

2.28 uses a different newton format, so you need to recreate all phy files.

Enable physics visualization and see what the physics shape of the object is.

Thanks for the replies.

The physics model fits it ok when I look at the wire. I deleted the phy file so it could generate a new one which it did (but was the same anyway based on the low LOD).

Collision type is 1 and mass is 1. I keep pressing play and pause but doesn't seem to work unfortunately.

Am I missing a physics config file or something? I did a fresh install of 2.28 which seems to have a lot less files. I have a lot of problems with sandbox actually :( It's a shame because I love the idea of a bunch of tools for a dev pipeline which lets face it, you're gonna need if you actually make something substantial. Maybe it's just me :( Havin bad luck lately lol >< Had so many problems with max and photoshop and everything added up.

Oh another thing... is the water no longer in 2.28? Something you're meant to do with the waterplane?

Anyway cheers for any help:)

The editor will generate a triangle mesh collision shape, which won't move. You need to use the phygen tool to create a cylinder shape, or just use the oildrum that is included in 2.28.

I don't know what model you are using, but if you post it in this thread it will help us tell what is going on.

Josh, I had a similar conversation with Pixel Perfect about this... Is there a way to make it so whenever your program or editor/sandbox creates a new PHY file of a model, that it can be made to be dynamic automatically? Then to actually make it affected by physics, you just do what you have to do now and set the mass to it. So if its got zero mass, then its a static object; we give it mass it becomes a dynamic physics object.

Or is there some issue with having everything initially set as dynamic physics object?

Just thinking that this would be a good way to remove all of the issues with PHY files and not to mention having to create an OBJ file version of all of your models.

At the very least maybe giving a settable flag option when loading a model into a scene?

I think the triangle mesh collision is the most frequently used type. Besides, convex hulls usually need to be modeled themselves so they aren't too high-detail.

So it's not working because it's not dynamic? How do I change it to be dynamic?

Not sure if this helps, but when I drag in a new oildrum the physics wire is green, when I press play for physics it turns red.

I've attacked everything in the folder aside from the .tga files.

Thanks again!
